About Chestnuts & Papaya

"Can you find this for my home?"

Based on this question, Chestnuts & Papaya opened its doors in 1996. The team of three with various backgrounds in the fashion industry took advantage of their international travels to find unique, one-of-a-kind pieces for their homes. Friends were immediately intrigued, wanting the same. The retail concept was to create inspiring settings that would translate from the showroom to the home. Over the next twelve years, collections of furniture and accessories were imported from Central and South America, France, Italy, Eastern Europe, China, Tibet, India, Japan, Morocco, and Africa. Most recently, the Showroom features Americana furniture and folk art accessories.

On a buying trip in South America, the team came across artisians creating beautiful woven baskets, rugs, and accesssories. Working one on one with shapes, colors, and weaves a line was created for the home. Chestnuts & Papaya Wovenworks was born. This line was introduced at the Los Angeles Gift Show in July 1998. The products were featured in publications such as InStyle (May 2002), Martha Stewart Living (June 2003), and O Magazine (August 2003). The creative minds behind Disney teamed up with Chestnuts & Papaya Wovenworks to create custom lifesize pieces for installations in Tokyo and several popular film sets. Upon discovering them at a Los Angeles Gift Show, The Home Shopping Network (HSN) invited Chestnuts & Papaya Wovenworks to develop a line of baskets to be sold internationally through television.

Today, Chestnuts & Papaya continues their creative vision and concepts through their retail store in Los Angeles, interior and custom furniture design services, Wovenworks wholesale division, and online retailing. In Fall/Winter 2008, Chestnuts & Papaya will introduce their Lifestyle brand of products and designs available through the retail outlet and wholesale division.
